Hotel Puerto Viejo—one of Costa Rica’s most iconic Caribbean properties—underwent a complete transformation to reestablish its relevance as a modern hospitality brand while preserving its local heritage. The initiative began with a full brand and business audit that informed the strategic restructuring of operations, marketing, guest experience, and revenue systems.
The project encompassed a full rebrand, new logo and identity system, website and booking redesign, marketing and social strategy, and the creation of new guest programs and event concepts to increase engagement and profitability. The physical space was also reimagined, aligning the interior design, signage, and atmosphere with the refreshed brand story. Through community-driven storytelling and consistent visual direction, the hotel evolved from a nostalgic backpacker hub into a vibrant cultural destination—merging hospitality, design, and local connection under a unified brand experience.
The goals of the project were the following:
  • Reposition Hotel Puerto Viejo as a modern cultural destination while honoring its legacy
  • Conduct a full brand audit and restructure the business for scalability and profitability
  • Redesign the visual identity, website, and booking systems for global reach
  • Develop new revenue streams through events, experiences, and partnerships
  • Align the physical design and guest experience with the new brand vision
  • Strengthen community engagement through storytelling and social media presence
